Liberty Double Eagles
The Liberty Double Eagle was issued from 1849 to 1907 and represents the first design for the $20 double eagle. Liberty is pictured wearing a coronet with thirteen stars surrounding. The reverse depicts a rather ornate heraldic eagle.
This lengthy series includes many rarities, which are prized by collectors, however, there are many issues which are very accessible and only trade for a small premium above the intrinsic value of the gold content.
Below is a selection of Liberty Gold Double Eagles available for sale.
