Saint Gaudens Double Eagles
The Saint Gaudens Double Eagle was issued from 1907 to 1933. Initially the coins were struck in high relief, although this was modified after approximately 12,000 coins were struck. The design features the full figure of Liberty with an olive branch and torch. The reverse carries the image of a young eagle in flight.
Designed by the famous sculptor Augustus Saint Gaudens, this series is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the history of U.S. coinage. It also includes some elusive rarities, which were created as a result of the mass melting that occurred for gold coins.
Below are some Saint Gaudens Double Eagles available for purchase.
